Casey Kasem to retire
Unbelievable!!! I have been listening to his American Top 40 show since 1979. His long distance dedications have touched me more than once over the years. The man, the voice and the show will be missed by me.
An interesting fact that I did not know. He is the voice of Shaggy on the cartoon show Scooby Doo.

I actually knew something others on this board didn't???
That is sad to see him go. I listened frequently through the late 90's. Then I became a country fanatic and quit. Any word on who will be trying to fill his shoes? It will be nearly impossible.

Me either!! And I'm usually pretty good at recognizing those cartoon voices.

Interesting fact, indeed...
Casey Kasem certainly doesn't sound like the voice of Scooby Doo... but then again a lot of voice-over and narrators have "more than one voice."
I always think of Peter Thomas when I think of people with this sort of job. Peter Thomas narrates just about every Nova on PBS, that was made in the 1980's..... which was and still is, for that matter produced at WGBH-TV 2-Boston.
As a side note, we usually don't see most narrators and those that do voice-overs; such as the voices on our local news stations.
