I'm sorry but this cannot be an excuse if bush wins another term...(scapegoat)

I will not vote, and it will be a vote of no confidence. I don't believe in our bipartisan democracy, and I think the only way for it to change is for it to crumble. How can you vote for Bush or Kerry? Kerry is a weak man, and Bush is a moron. If that stung, I'm sorry. But all this trash I hear about handling 9/11 well....perhaps you'd rather thank his speechwriters.

There are going to be problems on both sides and scandals in both parties. There will be those who don't cut it as leaders (and we pray they aren't the ones who make it to the Big Chair). Most of us realize that and don't fault every single member of the opposing party for the shortcomings of a few. Unfortunately, there are the handful of yellow-dog Democrats and nothing-but-Republican voters who don't care to see it any other way.
Kerry might have some good points. I'm willing to listen and find out, although I have yet to hear them. Just as many of us on the Republican side asked for the Democrat's support for our President and the troops during the war on terrorism, I'm sure Dems would ask for our support on the off chancethat Kerry is elected. I wouldn't support him on issues like abortion. But hey, if he's the commander-in-chief and out to kick some more Muslim extremist butt, you know I'll be behind him...even if he is a Democrat. However, if he does win :o and doesn't fight it, I'll be peeved!
And for the record, I'll most likely vote for a Democrat for Galveston mayor, based on her record of voting for firefighter/law enforcement officer's raises, fixing the city's financial department after it was without a director for 11 months, and, most importantly, for voting NO for putting parking meters on the Seawall without letting voters vote on the issue (that one just happened, and so now we get to vote on it!)
Sometimes, it's not a matter of what party the person belongs to, but how they feel about the issues and what position they'd hold if elected.

Linda, don't we have a wonderful governor!!! I'm glad I retired from teaching or my job would probably have been in jeopardy. (I'd just moved to this school district and was beginning my 2nd year in it when I retired.)

One of the most fair, unbiased, and overall excellent political posts in a long long time. Very well said!

The funny thing is that I don't much like Kerry.........But statements like this make me squirm. Why? Because I don't think it's reasonable or fair to equate soneone's politcal stance with his or her morals.
Why do I say that? Because, if I follow your line of reasoning, we would not have had the executives at Enron or WorldCom turn out to be such crooks. (PSST! They were big donators to the Republican party and supposedly conservatives.) And we would not have had to see the news stories about the resignation and scandals about the affairs of some of the most conserative politicians in the country. No siree, only known "lefties" like Bill Clinton would be entitled to wear crown.
But it's not true. Some conservatives have awful morals. Some liberals have awful morals. Most folks, despite their political believes, are basically decent and have high moral standards. (Notice I say MOST.)
No one says anyone has to vote for Kerry or Bush. But assuming that one candidate's followers are "Good" because they're on the right and the other "Bad" because they're on the left isn't reasonable thinking.
Yeah, I know-I have my flameproof suit ready!!! And I think in the future I'd better stick to weather-related posts..............

“All you have to do is follow the money,” House Minority Leader Dick Gephardt (D-Mo.) told reporters June 26. “It leads right to the Republican party.”
But that argument might not be as convincing in WorldCom’s case. Over the last 10 years, the company’s political contributions have been spread evenly between the two national parties. Since 1989, the company has contributed roughly $7.6 million in soft money, PAC and individual contributions to federal candidates and parties, 54 percent to the GOP. The race for WorldCom money has been even tighter than during the current election cycle. So far in 2001-02, WorldCom has contributed just over $1 million, split equally between Democrats and Republicans.
