Looking back at DT's posts at the beginning. Is it anti war, or criticism of how the war's being prosecuted? There's a difference. I think that our commanders have to have every resource and every opportunity to take it to the bad guys and win the war. We are close now and now would be the worst time to chicken out.
In my case, it's the way it's being prosecuted. You know the addage "if you're going to do it, do it right the first time or don't do it at all". I look at the war in Iraq in this way. Why didn't we send more troops to help reinforce what we had there or quicken the pace? Why are we in a rush to hand over the reigns to the Iraqi government by June 30th? Are we really sure that they are ready? I don't think that they are if the Sunni Triangle is any indication. Are they trying to save a buck? Okay, so we're over there, but let's make sure that the democratic government that we set out to install in Iraq does occur; that the country is rebuilt as we said it would be, etc. I just see this as going on and on and if we were really up front about the cost in dollars and lives, I think more people would've been more accepting of it.
