Whether it's real or not, the fact that there is a wave like that that far east just 3 days into the season will likely point to a busy Cape Verde season! :)

Yeah, but nothing in this morning's package just prior to Navy hoisting an Invest.

18Z's are coming in ATTM but no time here to examine...will be curious to see if they start jumping either at 18 or the 0Z.

Also, early CVs are not particularly uncommon, but CVs spinning into TC's this early is very unusual. We'll see.

There also wasn't even an attempt by SSD to do a Dvorak, either.

All in all, a bit weird.

Wow! I never thought they would have used an invest for there. Since NRL isn't working (like usual), I can't even tell what is there. Any satellite images?

Invest data is collected wherever there are numerous surface vessels of the US Navy; that's the primary function of NRL. This isn't a consumer product of TPC/NHC.

I'm going to chalk alot of the ? marks on this being early season and a somewhat unusual place for an invest this time of year. Like Scott said, the navy ran up this flag because evidently ships in the area experienced signs of development, LLC, e.t.c....It doesn't necessarily mean that it will develop further or anything of the sort, but it is an area to be watched.

I agree...I seriously doubt anything becomes of this. No SSD Estimates...and it looks like it's weakening. However, we may look for it to form later next week as it enters the Western Caribbean or Eastern Pacific...if it holds together.

Looks like it has already nearly dissipated. Not much left but cirrus now. It's in a high-shear environment with about zero chance of development. 92L must have been a mistake.

My guess is that it was done due to Navy activity in that area. That would be the only reason I could think of.
