Miss Mary
No Fur....it's just been busy I guess. Summer time and all that. Pre-holiday plans? I dunno! I too wondered where everyone had gone....he he.
Glad you enjoyed your Vegas stopover. And now back to reality huh? I imagine it feels good to be home though. It's always nice traveling but nice to come home I think.
Now, let's see if we can encourage others to pop in and say hello! And oh, before I close...HB Brett! A 13 year old now....wow, hang on tight Fur. It's fun being a parent of a teenager and nerve wracking at the same time.

Hey Mary :O).
I hate to see this as a topic as a dying breed...lol. Its fun to recall all the old friends, etc...
Brett had a great birthday. We did most of the celebrating in Vegas, because at 9pm, he was officially a teen as he is an east coast baby, then we celebrating when he turned 13 in Louisiana time, and then the grand finale when he turned 13 in CA. time zone. He got to see many of the free shows, showgirls walking around and a giant icecream cone at midnight! Lastnight once we got home, we had a cookout with his bestfriend over, presents, cake, the works, and he is having a birthday party with all his friends at Hooters this weekend! So, he's having a good start ino teenhood! :O) Can't believe I am old enough to have a teen! geez...
Anyway, hope everyone has a great 4th weekend!

Fur, wait until he starts driving....LOL Then you'll really feel old. When your kid gets his temps, boy you seem to age instantly overnight. When our daughter passed her driver's test and wanted to go out driving, w/o parents, her sister wanted to tag along. I said I had a long list of errands she could run for me, he he. So off to Target they went. Jim and I stood by the front windows and watched them leave. My heart sunk - my kids are really growing up. They were out for 90 minutes, 30 longer than I wanted for comfort. Yes I was pacing the floor a bit near the end. Found out my youngest always wanted to know where this one street went to on her bus route. So she talked Nina into taking this road - they got lost somewhat. They had a talking to that day....but since I've been able to relax a bit when Nina takes my car. She's driven a lot this summer so it does get easier. But looking back, when my oldest was only 13, it seemed easier. You had to drive them everywhere but at least you knew what they were up to. So enjoy these next few years Fur. Because before you know it, he'll want his temps! Not sure what CA's laws are on this, but here in OH they qualify for them at 15.5 years - way too young IMHO. We held Nina off until she was almost 16, she wasn't too happy about that.
Well, hope you're still enjoying the birthday festivites so to speak and have a nice holiday.

Hey there ya'll... Hey Mary & Furry
Furry .. I'm glad you had a great time on vacation, and that your flight home was safe. Sounds like you had a lot of fun. I did read your replies and had you in my prayers for a safe return home even though I didn't get to reply.
My kids are 6yrs and 9 mths; but it sure seems like time is flying. I know before I know it they'll be grown and taller than I am.
For the 4th of July.. we'll be taking the kids camping..fishing..swimming..I'm looking forward to it.
Have a safe and funfilled weekend..
Happy 4th of July!!!!

breezy - didn't know you had another child! Congrats! Wow, I'm impressed - you're taking a baby camping! Years ago I camped a lot with my family. Every holiday weekend and several more weekends each summer. Boating, fishing, playing cards, so much fun. My brother got married and brought his wife along on two trips that my family will never forget - one when his wife was 6 months pregnant. My dad couldn't get our usual shady camping spot (we roughed it, pulling up to primitive ones on boats at Lake Monroe in Indiana). The one he got was in tall grass and the sun. Linda lasted about a day! All of a sudden we see them packing up - heading home. The next trip with them their baby was about your baby's age - they lasted the entire weekend. But it wasn't easy! This trip Linda talked my dad into a camp ground with bathroom/shower facilities. And shade! That was their last camping trip with us. That baby is now 26! But if you can pull it off, I say go for it!
We rented Independence Day again. Jim and I have seen it, years ago. Kids have never watched it. Well, let's just say we all went to sleep very, very late last night - they said it was too scary. I said - hey didn't it make you feel so proud of your country? They couldn't get past the destruction, aliens, etc. Oh well, disaster flicks never give me nightmares. So we're all bleary eyed today. Moving very slowly! Actor playing the Prez, Bill Pullman, sure gives a moving speech right before the final battle. Gave me goose bumps again, in light of all that's happened since 9/11 and Iraq.
Happy 4th to all!

So, Sat. night we saw Sea Worlds fireworks, and Mission Bay's in San Diego....sons party at Hooters was a great success, many of you got to see his famed pic...lol We took a short video of Brett on the barstool with all the girls gathered 'round him singing and dancing...and its hilarious...he is just continually looking down from one girl to another, its funny...what a bevy of beauties San Diego has!
We spent the 4th at Oceanside Bch...never seen so many ppl in my life! Was a fun beach day, the water ws warm enough to swim in, and the fireworks were fun...we could see the fireworks of all the beach communities all the way down to San Diego...THAT was pretty cool!
We're heading into the desert today, Anza Borrego Desert St Park...hope we don't melt! lol
Hi's and hello's to everyone...and Grimmy, if you're reading this, I say "GO for it", but be careful what you wish for.....lol. You know what I mean!

HI! Anyone reading this thread? lol Miss Mary, you and I could post the combination to the vault at Ft. Knox and it'd be our very own secret that no one would ever know about! lol
We found flowing water yesterday! OMG...we didn't think it existed here! A beautiful, magical CALI gem...water falls over huge rocks into deep pools great for swimming and playing...we're so happy we found this spot!
We also visited Julien, a quaint little mountain town famous for its apples and apple pies especially...GREAT PIE, btw...lol
The desert park was just so so. We are discovering that we are not huge desert rocks and mountain fans...but beautiful to see none the less...
