Blob in West Caribbean

#1 Postby kevin » Thu Jul 08, 2004 2:13 pm

Before someone mentions it, there is an expansion of convection in the western caribbean, and I believe it might be due to the ULL to the north of it, off the coast of Cuba. Am I reading it right?

Thanks

Yep divergent flow from upper low and interaction with a tropical wave is causing that convection but nothing to look there that may be tropical cyclone formation.

Yep, noticed it too but the ULL looks to be pullling NW. This is a favored area so I will watch. Anybody know what wind shear is like in that are now and what it is expected to be in 24 to 48hr.

To me, it looks to be a tropical wave interacting with the ULL.

Wind shear is between 20-30 kts over the convection. ULL is pulling nw ward, but I think that the shear will remain pretty strong there for a while. Convection will probably disipate as it tends to.
