I don't perceive his post that way at all. You sure like adding fuel to the fire, don't you?

This is not about me....I expressed an opinion. If you disagree, certainly you can do it without calling my motives into question.

I don't hate gays. There are several (believe it or not), on this board that are incredibly nice people, and I'm not at all uncomfortable with. However, the extremists of this sector, of which there are many, make me feel uneasy, and embarrassed.

It's a very difficult chore to raise children amongst an openly gay and demostrative society. The one's that show my children respect, have my respect. The one's that don't...I have no use for.

How do the "extremists" disrespect your children??

Please elaborate... I'm not sure how to interpret your comment on our "openly gay society," and also would appreciate a few examples of how gays have failed to show your children respect.

This may sound like I hate gays...quite the contrary...I've just had it up to my eyeballs with every special interest groups out there (the extremest gays are just one of many), wishing to redefine our culture to suit their deviancies.

I'm just glad my children are grown and I'm not having to explain to them why it is that men are marrying men, woman are marrying women, and cats are marrying dogs.

Absolutely stunning.

J doesn't hate gays.

And he's not the only one bugged about how darned in-your-face gays can be. Heck, I try my darnedest not to be that way when I reply to posts on this subject, but sometimes, because of who I am and what I am, it *might* just come across that way to someone who doesn't want or care to hear my opinion. I think most everyone here knows I'm gay, but I'm not gonna get in your face about it.

And I TOTALLY agree with him about how extremists show disrespect towards his children. The key word there is "extremists" and there are plenty of them out there.

Oh dear. I will take the plunge in this fray here. Here goes...

I have no problem with gays in the community or anywhere. I believe that people should be able to do aything they choose, as long as its legal. The human spirit and mind should be unimpeded and allowed to spring forth. Now, I believe that there should be no amendment saying that only a man and woman should marry. What's the problem with having gays marry? According to recent lawsuits, the government may not invade the privacy of a person's home without prior consent or if there is known illegal wrongdoing going on inside the house. I have no problem with anyone who is gay. I smile and say, "That's cool!" and leave it at that. I just hope they don't come on to me, though.. :D

Also, I totally agree with what John McCain said yesterday...

Dude, chances are good that, in your lifetime, you might turn at least *one* gay guy's head if you're good looking. :) Don't fret it. If it's physical, sure -- stop it. :grrr: But just a crush or asking you out, just be flattered and say no. It's no biggie to us. Besides, if you were in our world, you'd know that not everyone looks the stereotypical part of a gay person. So, sometimes it's hard to tell and we take risks by asking someone out who we later find out is straight. Just as some straight women find guys attractive who they later find out are gay and how some straight men find women attractive who they later find out are gay woman, there are those of us who find people attractive who are, darn it, straight. It's the same in the straight world -- you can't always get what you want. If someone is not your type (looks, brains, sexuality, whatever), they're gonna turn you down. People deal with it everyday and they move on. :)

then of course...theres always that risk us straight men take when we ask out a woman, that she might be bi-sexual. Such are the risks we take each and every day. :)

LOL j!!!

I do understand your point involving the extremists. They are so annoying and give others who are of similar sexual orientation a very bad wrap.

What started out as an impassioned appeal to christian sensibilities has turned political once the enshrined sanctity of the constitution was invoked.

A constitutional amendment to guarantee a right to only a segment of the population, even if it is the majority, is basically discrimination and by denying that right from other (the gay population) is in itself unconsititutional so yes, they really do have themselves a debate on their hands.

The President should have seen this coming, but then again Karl Rove probably did.

It's a wedge issue that I see backfiring because a core ethic of Republicans is to leave these powers to the states, not enact more federal controls. Thats' why McCain voted no.

Proposing this alone makes Jr. look like a flip-flop himself, to everyone but his Christian Right, that is. To them he's the next best thing to the messiah. To them it will remain a wedge issue.
