It is moving @ 9 mph and expected to slow down even more...what effect will this have on the track?

Before hurricane_lover says its going to NC, it means its gradually turning back more to the west.

In the past few frames of the high-res images, she is nearly stationary...the overall convective symmetry does appear to be improving though.

If it gives up going North and heads more West then strengthening is likely.

If it's bumping the ridge to the north, then it shouldn't go any further north right?

If that's true, then why the NHC is saying we should expect her to slow down then turn more toward the NW instead of what we think....west ?

Because right now you have the ridge to the east steering it north and the ridge north of it saying no. ONce everything settles...the net vector with a north steering flow (from east) and a west steering flow (from ridge to north) is NW.

Vector analysis. IF the ridge to the east weakens...expect more of a WNW motion.

The ridge to the north is ridging down from the Northeastern corner of the nation, isn't it?
