Don't get me wrong, CLTRDU, based on what MWatkins and Derek Ortt have posted, and NHC discussions, I believe she's hitting Florida and sticking close to those tracks.

I just don't think Frances and Mother Nature take direction from any measly human being and the thought that she WILL do "whatever" until a forecaster says "nuh uh" whereupon she'll go, "oh, my bad," and do as the forecaster says was a rather amusing thought. Frances, she is an insolent teenager.

The "woohoo" wasn't because I thought you agreed with the forecast (I hope the Florida disaster junkies get treated to a big hurricane). I was happy that you see that "it's not over 'til it's over"!

SC has pretty much been in the northern fringe of the cone for the past 3 to 4 days.

Rainbands are heading towards central GA. There is no reason why these bands couldn't come ashore in SC as Frances moves NW and then WNW over the next 2 days.

Frances is pretty much due South of Charleston. For SC to take a direct hit, Frances would have to stop and then come North.

Which is possible.

Then again, it is possible to win Powerball too.

Nah, it's all in how you say it. Know-it-all posts tend to get a poor reaction and the message is lost. Informative and relatively humble ones get a much different reaction.

AF Met is right to always tell the public the party line and keep your doubts yourself. With that in mind, people along the SC/GA/FL coast should not let their guard down. Any weakness in the 300MB/200MB ridge coming across may cause Frances to make a slight turn. Until that happens, FL is the primary point of impact. If Frances slows down too much, anything goes.

No actually, Charleston has been OUT of the cone for two days now. But I still don't trust this storm.

I know there's all this FL vs. SC arguing going on... I just love weather, and I love my family. Doesn't matter who's right-- just matters that everybody who will be impacted will have plenty of time to prepare. Even the fish. You never know!

That’s the best attitude. Don’t trust the storm. I was in the center eye of a typhoon for 10 hours once as the thing went stationary over the top of us. That was a nice day for a BBQ

...The key to the storm track will be what happens once it clears Abaco Island. Will it head west into Florida or will it head north-northwest and hit Georgia and South Carolina. Until there's a turn to the west, Her Highness skirts the coast and heads north....
