Anything is possible but I've read a lot of posts here that say hurricanes don't stop and make hard turns north, south, east, or west.

Question about Palm Beach County...
...First off, I'd like to say I've been lurking for nearly a week. You all are so helpful and knowledgeable, I have to say thanks to all of you. So - THANKS!!
Now to the question:
Assuming this storm stays on course (north of us), as it passes us in the Atlantic, will I experience E and SE winds?
The reason I ask is that my house's exposure is East and South.
Now to the question:

Major disclaimer....not a prof, nor a major academic, but experience has shown that wind directions can be deceiving.
We were in the NE quadrant of Charley within 5mi of eye.
Wind around 75-100 for 1.5hrs most damage on the South and West side of house.
Others in neighborhood had different sides.
With the potential for tornadoes, I can assume that any side is just as vulnerable as any other within the storm's "cone" of influence.
