apparently speed isnt hindering ivan...lol...i thought the same sam ilmc172pilot, but ivan seems to be proving us wrong...could it be becuase hes Russian?:)

Ivan has continued the 2004 weirdness by becoming the southern-most forming cyclone in history. With Alex and the southern hemisphere storm we can't deny global warming at this point...


Good point I'm sure a hurricane hasn't formed this far south before and one hasn't been in the South Atlantic before. :roll:

If its the strongest or first hurricane to form this far south since <b>record have been kept</b> then its interesting. But seriously what records do we have from the middle of the eastern atlantic....Honestly how do we know that a hurricane in the early 1900s was as strong or stronger at or around the same lat/lon.

Barbados? Do you realize how far South that is? For Barbados to threatened by a cat 4 hurricane is almost unfathomable!! News keeps getting worse and stranger as the season continues.

anyone have any thoughts on the possibility of a carolinas hit...or a floyd "skirting" of the east coast.
i have seen some posts of people comparing this one to hurricane david in 1979...where was the final landfall of that system....the maps are too far out for me to see the exact location

David hit around Savannah, GA and Hilton Head Island, SC I believe.

It's WAY TOO EARLY to speculate on a U.S. landfall. It's at least 6-7 days away.
