37 days since Alex kicked us off. 37 days- 3 landfalls in florida, 2 landfalls in the carolinas, one landfall on the north atlantic coast.

And what's really creepy about it?

Alex bonnie CHARLEY Danielle earl FRANCIS Gaston hermine IVAN....

On the 2's we have baby TS's. On the 3's.... we have landfalling major hurricanes.

Can you imagine the mayhem that would ensue if one of these was Chad?

:?: I am curious, I live in North Myrtle Beach SC, Is it possible that Ivan would follow Frances's track then head north due the water that was stirred up by Frances.

Ivan has continued the 2004 weirdness by becoming the southern-most forming cyclone in history. With Alex and the southern hemisphere storm we can't deny global warming at this point...

Good point I'm sure a hurricane hasn't formed this far south before and one hasn't been in the South Atlantic before.

If its the strongest or first hurricane to form this far south since record have been kept then its interesting. But seriously what records do we have from the middle of the eastern atlantic....Honestly how do we know that a hurricane in the early 1900s was as strong or stronger at or around the same lat/lon.

2004 's motto is "expect the unexpected". Honestly,we are being taught that conventional wisdom,or stats can be thrown out the window this season.

Barbados? Do you realize how far South that is? For Barbados to threatened by a cat 4 hurricane is almost unfathomable!! News keeps getting worse and stranger as the season continues.

anyone have any thoughts on the possibility of a carolinas hit...or a floyd "skirting" of the east coast.
i have seen some posts of people comparing this one to hurricane david in 1979...where was the final landfall of that system....the maps are too far out for me to see the exact location

David hit around Savannah, GA and Hilton Head Island, SC I believe.

It's WAY TOO EARLY to speculate on a U.S. landfall. It's at least 6-7 days away.
