Latest GFDL further west=Landfall between Pensacola,Destin

#4285 Postby cycloneye » Sat Sep 11, 2004 12:54 pm

http://weather.net-waves.com/td09.php

With every run this GFDL model shifts more west and now it is near Pensacola the line of landfall. The line of the GFDL in the grafic is the less red one at the left.

An annular cane has a larger-than-normal eye, a symmetric doughnut of convection with a less sharp distribution of wind speeds, and they tend to be very stable, not losing instensity quickly. Often you'll see mesovortices swirling in the large eye.

Isabel was in this form for a few days.

Well if you asked the storm itself, it looks like it is blowing a new eye and turning towards us here in SW Florida...

Here's a great source on annular hurricanes, for those who wonder what the heck folks are talking about:

He said to expect a shift back to the east so I was hoping to hear why. das, if you want people to believe a comment like that, just give some reasoning. If you've seen something that makes you think it will shift back to the right, please share it with all of us. Maybe some of us missed it.

Typical. A comment saying it'll put South Florida in more danger, and when asked for a reason, there is none. Thanks a lot.

Now we're finally starting to get some models where I've been thinking this storm would go for the last 3 days. I knew they'd come around. I'm actually starting to even think Alabama, today, but, we've got more time to watch and see if that would come to pass.
