Well the Topic says "Cuba to be missed". I am not trying to be rude.Sorry if it sounded like that, but Its like saying the US would spared. Saying any country/state is in the clear is not intelligent. In my opinion its misleading especially for the people that know nothing about weather

nope..northeast eyewall would be terrible on grand cayman.....but people seem to lump northeast quadrant in with northeast eyewall..

Sorry Corpus, but its not coming to your house. The reason why Gilbert kept moving WNW w/o turning is because it remained equatorward of the sub-tropical ridge which extended well westward into the southern plains

That is the type of situation you need to keep it moving westward w/o turning. In other words you cant have any weakeness in the ridge that could turn the system.
