I don't know about anyone else on this board but there is for sure a CHANCE (key word here) of this coming in as a 5.

You can never say never with mother nature.


929 mb, 147 kt flight level winds well the storm is still undergoing ERC and still waiting to pass the warm water eddy...!


I'd say that the AP was right on in saying that there's a "chance."

theres a chance the world will end in nuclear war before ivan hits....did they report on that too?

AP or not, it doesn't really matter too much if it's a Cat 5 or Cat 4...


Even a low end Cat 4 (135 mph) would do massive destruction! :(


Case in point September 21, 1989....Hurricane Hugo...135 mph sustained winds...20 foot storm surge.

Nobody expected Charley to become a cat 4,but he did by bombing out in the last hour before landfall.Anything is possible.Even NHC is saying AT LEAST CAT 3,which means they are not sure
