I am 500 yds from the Gulf and looking at a 15-20 ft storm surge...
The windows are boarded...furniture is wrapped in plastic...important documents and pictures are packed...sandbags at all entrances...and hope and fear are spiking to all time highs...
I wish the feeling I have right now on no one...the possibility of losing something you have worked so hard to obtain is crushing...
I hope all in Ivan's path will come through this unscathed...
LowMug...about all I can do!!!

Great preps, LowMug! I truly understand the feelings that you are going through. Part of you is tugging you to stay and protect, but your common sense is saying "get moving". You've resisted the denial part (tough, I know) and are probably operating in slow motion at this point, but you sound like your plan is together so you're way ahead of most. Keep to the plan and leave early.
I am sure you are exhausted and hot from all the preparation, but getting to your safe evac destination early allows you a day or two to chill out before the storm hits.
Very, very best wishes and prayers for your safety, little damage to your home, and minimal damage to your area.
