recon reports suggest jeanne is now a TD

#1 Postby Derek Ortt » Fri Sep 17, 2004 2:26 pm

the latest recon shows that jeanne is nothing more than a weak TS at most, likely a depression. 34KT at 700mb. May be best to keep this at 35KT since 35KT was estimated at the surface, but even this is a stretch now

The only problem that was found in the northwest Quadrant which is absent from any thunderstorm activity.

Yeah, but was that a Max FL or was the NW the first quadrant sampled?

Either way..its not dead...it will regain its form.

Jeane looks dead on satellite. I predicted Jeane would die over Hispaniola, and it seems she at least had a near death experience...

Yaeh. Makes sense. Without meaningful convection, you'd exect her to be much weaker.

I don't want to dampan anything but the fact that it's survived at all over there is a mircle considering the time Jeanne spent over there, and whose to say it won't reach hurricane force again anyway?????

Jeanne is a fighter and is very weak but there are now signs that it is at least trying to get it's act togther.Hispolina weakened it,but did not destroy it completely.

Are the conditions ahead of Jeanne conducive to restreghthening? I know the waters are warm, but what about the other land masses, sheer, etc....

Jeanne is a storm, that will do what its environment dictates. How's the environment looking for strengthening Derek (and others)?

For those of you that doubt that Jean can't regain her form should review Hurricane Fredrick's history. But, looks like a good bit of dry air surrounds her plus perhaps a bit of shear.....MGC

She may not be declared officially dead yet, but she looks like shes is on her last breath. I hope she will be history by 8 pm tonight. Time to take dowo the hurricane shutters and let the sunshine in.

the environment does not appear all that favorable at the present time. too much shear to allow for significant regeneration
