IF this little stinker develops into something, how long do you guys think it will take to get to the Texas coast? I have to go to Dallas tomorrow and I dont wanna get stranded there.... :grr:

The question is how much will it develop. Right now current progs by some(nothing official I have seen) are that it could become a TS in the 60-70mph range prior to approaching the coast closely.

If this remains the case then there shouldn't be a problem with you being stranded in Dallas, especially if it follows the possible scenario of approaching the coast and then moving back SW over the W GOM.

I just looked at the vis of the Gulf. The disturbance seems stationary or barely moving.

Shouldn't take long. By Saturday for sure. NHC has it moving at 10-15 mph which would get it there tomorrow.

Alicia was my first Cane also. That is what got me hooked on weather in general. She rapped up very quickly and came from a depression and into a Cat. 3 storm in just two days. I'm gonna do a little bit of digging around and see what the conditions were like in the Gulf when she developed. If I'm not mistaken I think conditions were marginally favorable for development and she was not experiencing shear like this system is.

I remember driving home from work and hearing on the radio that TS Allison had formed out in the gulf and was going to hit Houston - like the NEXT day. What the h*ll???????? I wasn't closely following the weather at the time and had no idea something was brewing. She came in fast and furious.

Allison the first go round wasn't too bad. I stayed off the roads and watched the wind blow happily enough- she was only a nightmare when she came back for seconds.... but if I remember correctly- Allison spun up very very fast in the gulf.

Do things normally spin up quickly when they're home grown?

Hey Moma, I was renting out a beach house down on the west end of Galveston when Allison blew in. The day before I checked the weather throughly before heading down and their was no talks of something brewing. Allison came inland the next day!! LOL I had my first experience with a tornado (not a water spout) that trip.

Was Allison two years ago? Seems like that would be right because we were scheduled to go canoeing on the Escatawpa in Mississippi that Saturday. We went anyway and had a quite a time: a squall blew our canoe sideways up river! We were nuts to go!

Hope you Texans don't get anything worse that a "little" tropical storm. This season needs to start winding down soon!
