Yep ... gotta agree, even using 80% reduction that would equate to about 37 kts at the SFC ...

NWS TPC/NATIONAL HURRICANE CENTER MIAMI FL
7 PM CDT WED SEP 23 2004

AN AIR FORCE PLANE IN IVAN JUST MEASURED TROPICAL STORM FORCE WINDS AT FLIGHT LEVEL TO THE NORTH OF THE CENTER. IVAN IS NOW A TROPICAL STORM AND THIS WILL BE REFLECTED IN THE 10 PM CDT...0300Z SCHEDULED ADVISORY.

He sure doesn't look like one. Shear doesn't look like it's letting up at all as predicted.

Yes, I know, there are lots of factors to consider but there really is a chance for explosive development given the heat content upcoming in its track.

Wow, wouldnt it be amazing if the shear lessened and it took its time through the hot waters of the gulf?? We could see a hurricane!! Not that it will happen, I doubt it. But still, the mere possibility that it could is still amazing!
