I personally think it is ridiculous as Florida is 72 hours out now. Show it like it is darn it!

I agree, what stinks is that we're losing time to get ready, my roof won't make it through another storm if i don't get right on it.

I read that and said "WTF?"

Who gives a flying (CENSORED) about "continuity". I want to know if the (CENSORED) thing is coming my way.

JEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEZ. What a stupid thing to have put in the discussion. Thanks a lot, Avila.

Its the smart move. Like someone said, no preparations willl begin tonight. More info is needed to confirm. He is one of the best guys in the business. The NHC is the best in the business. Let wait and see what tommorow brings! Over and out!

I recall everyone's forecaster darling Stewart writing something almost identical to that in one of his Ivan discussions as it got fairly close to landfall...I'd probably shift it but need to maintain continuity...so it's not just Avila. Obviously this is SOP for the NHC. In general I'd probably say this serves them well, as if they let each forecaster just shift the guidance anywhere they wanted, there would invariably be people whining about how inconsistent and unpredictable the forecasts were. When they closely follow the (obviously wrong) models, they get dogged for relying too heavily on them, when they vary too much from the (obviously right) models, they get blasted for not paying attention to what the models are saying, there's really no way they can win.
