Has it been determined that the other "blob" in the Gulf is nothing?

Steve Lyons said it was nothing...In fact he mentioned that it was already losing convection as Ivan moved onshore.

I'm in the "eye" right now according to the local Met. I couldn't tell by the weather. We got a little light shower ot two, but doesn't really even make a decent summer afternoon shower. I'd be surprised if we even got an inch of rain. Too Bad.

Let's hope "Ivan's Spawn" rots in hell and doesn't go back out to the GOMex and restrengthen...then again, nothing should surprise us.

... and it looked SO promising there for a while. When my friend and I left my apartment for Chuckie Cheeze Pizza at around 7 pm., there were big black clouds over head. I was sure there would be heavy rain. While we were in the pizza place, the waiter came over to tell our party that we should know that we might get flooded in - because there was a tropical storm.

Now, if you've ever been to a Chuckie Cheese Pizza - it's NOT the kind of place you want to be flooded in for a night!!

But by the time we got back to my apartment at 9:00 - there wasn't a cloud in the sky. just a beautiful starlit night.

Can we worry yet? I guess the 70% chance of rain yesterday didn't quite materialize. It looks like only dry air around Ivan now, except for some rain in LA. Could the mets have been this wrong or is there still a chance for our 10"- 15" of rain that good old Frank Billingsly forecasted for us?

I'm with you on this one. I just put out my sprinklers if that tells you how much confidence I have in our rain chances.

I agree. Even if it does, it will only be enough to ruin a perfectly good weekend.

Couldn't ask for a more beautiful morning here in Clear Lake.

Yepper. If you listened to the TV you would be building an ark by now. One channel led off the news yesterday with a big "Trouble from the Tropics" type lead-in with a picture of a beach home laying crumbled on the beach. I guess today they will have to find a new disaster to dream up.
Roxy is probably right, we will get just enough rain(and at the wrong time) to mes up weekend activities.

I'm glad Ivan is a Depression, as he was bringing on a bit of Depression in me.

do my eyes deceive me?

#17 Postby Houstonia » Fri Sep 24, 2004 11:11 am

Honestly I'm even looking at my local radar with scepticism now. I know it's showing no clouds in the Hou/Galv area, but out here in the county, it's getting darker and darker. The clouds look heavy - like major rain is on the way.

But the radar remains clear?!?

*bang bang bang* Houstonia gives her monitor a whack!

Squat x2 here in League City. The clouds are a bit darker than yesterday, so that is something guess. They took down the flood warnings for our area , what a shock.
Maybe the 80% chance was for clouds and not rain. The artist formerly known as Ivan seems to be stalled, or creeping north still. It doesn't look good for our rain chances at all this weekend. :grr:

Well, if anything I think we've seen more rain in Lafayette today than there was yesterday.

I actually heard that chick in Fox News talk about it going back into the gulf and one of my teachers said the same thing this morning. You've got to be kidding me.
