My name is Perry....named after a former Georgia all-star HS football player (Perry Lee Dunn). Born and raised here in metro Atlanta....just turned 43 yrs of age.
Dad (Bill) is a native of Douglasville, GA....my late mother (Emma Fay) grew up in rural northeast Tennessee near Morristown. Sadly, mom passed away suddenly from a brain aneurism when I was just 16

Three sweetheart younger sisters...Becky's 39...she and I grew up together. Sis and her husband Dave live in Oregon (and the proud parents to my four precious little angels...Maddie, Nick, Jake, and little Gracie. Maria (stepsis) is 28; she and her husband Chris just celebrated the birth of their first baby...little Ryan is my youngest nephew. My baby sis (half-sis) Beth is twenty, and is a college student....both she and Maria live in metro Atlanta.
My background....grew up in a peaceful suburb of Atlanta. Excellent student...esp. subjects I liked (loved science & social studies/ geography; loathed math & language arts); always made honor roll until I reached H.S. After mom's tragic death, I quit high school and went to work fulltime...trying to forget (I was home sick from school the December morning the aneurism struck mom...alone with her
Earned my H.S. diploma via correspondence in Sept. 1978 (age 16); was working 50-60 hrs a week at age 17.
When I wasn't working or asleep, was diligently reseaching the weather, esp. severe local storms and tropical cyclones. Always a science enthusiast, my passion for weather began after tornado struck my family home near Atlanta in March 1974; combined with the infamous tornado "superoutbreak" only two weeks later, my fascination for severe weather quickly became a lifelong passion. I drove all over the southeast, studying past tornadoes and hurricanes in libraries, tv/ radio stations, and NWS offices; also began storm chasing at age 17.
Became certified Skywarn storm spotter in 1982.
Politics? I grew up in a home where dad didn't vote, and mom only once I can remember. There wasn't much political discussion in our home. Watergate angered dad; we were thrilled someone from Georgia was elected president in 76' (Carter)...that was about it politics-wise in my home.
I'm not a very political guy, but am definitely very conservative (as are most folks in this area). My father was both a Church of God of Prophecy minister and a certified law enforcement officer (also a Korean war vet), so I learned discipline, as well as respect for God, family, country, and the law early in life. Mom was the guiding force that molded me into a kind, courteous, chivalrous gentleman; I try to live my life as she lived her's...trying to make others feel better about themselves (but fail miserably compared to mom...she was loved by everyone).
Career-wise, I've worked most of my adult life in the security field (patrol & executive security); also had a brief career as a Provider Representative for EDS in Jackson, MS during the mid-90's. Gave up my career with EDS in 96' to return to metro Atlanta and care for my aging grandmother....the precious lady who took such good care of my oldest sister and I after mom's death. I love to write, and plan someday to publish books...about weather & storms, and possibly a novel or two as well (I've been told I have a very vivid "Stephen King" type imagination
I've never married, but do have a precious girlfriend. Traci teaches third grade at a christian school...she's a wonderful lady whom I've known since childhood (were best friends long before we began dating last year
