got pretty close to that in MAR 1993.
My FAVORITE WINTER STORM. I love telling my kids all about it...they were born in 1995, so they missed it entirely. They're just waiting for their shot at a Superstorm!

Oh, and keep in mind, that right up until the snow started falling in March 1993 NO ONE believed that it was actually going to happen (at least not in Atlanta).

I was 14 during the 1993 superstorm and remember it very well. I lived in the northeast at that time and my area was crushed w/ over 30" of snow. I loved it even more than the FEB 1983 event (which I don't remember that well anymore)
I was 20 for the Feb 1983 event. Remember it well. WOO HOOO. I worked in a hospital as a Pharm. Tech at the time. My roomate worked in Admissions. The snow started falling around lunch time (or a little bit later). We were given the choice of a room at the hospital (and work through the event), or go home.
Her boyfriend (later her husband) came by about an hour later in his 4WD to pick us up. A case of beer, and a guy friend of his included. We did donuts in empty parking lots and drank beer all afternoon long (not to worry, in 1983 20 years old was LEGAL).
Of course, I wouldn't do that NOW...but that just goes to show what almost 22 years will do to your (good) judgement.
