Louisville's radar shows reflectivity factor values as high as 50-55 dBz..no doubt thunder and lightning...but these aren't associated with bright banding...it's actually snow! Proof is the fact that I can't see past 1/8 to 1/4 of a mile into the valley behind the house. I'm in the triangle shaped county just WNW of Louisville and Georgetown, where my parent's house is, is just south of I-64 (E-W oriented highway through Louisville and Lexington) in the western part of that county. The yellows and oranges are over us now, with the red (50-55 dbz) heading this way. One station reported 3" per hour snowfall rates with lightning and thunder in this area on the 11 o'clock news. WOW!!!!!!!!! I'm gonna be up all night...again!
