Looks like the rain chances are starting to diminish this week!! And hopefully more nice weather by the weekend
AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE SEATTLE WA 825 PM PST SUN FEB 27 2005
.UNFORTUNATELY THE FLOW IS STILL SPLIT WITH MOST ENERGY MOVING IN TO OUR SOUTH. THIS WILL MEAN THAT SYSTEMS WILL BE WEAKENING AS THEY MOVE THROUGH AND QPF WILL NOT BE TOO HEAVY. EXTENDED GUIDANCE STILL POINTS TOWARD RENEWED RIDGING FOR NEXT WEEKEND...AND THAT MAY PERSIST FOR A WHILE. THE MODEL SHOW INCREASING UNCERTAINTY WED INTO FRI AS THEY NOW HINT AT SOME SHORT WAVE RIDGING FOR A POSSIBLE BREAK IN THE ACTION SOMETIME LATER WED INTO THU. CURRENT FORECASTS MAY BE TOO WET. HOWEVER MY CONFIDENCE IS TOO LOW TO MAKE CHANGES TO THE GOING FORECAST PACKAGE. IT LOOKS LIKE RIDGING WILL BE BACK FOR NEXT WEEKEND INTO POSSIBLY THE FOLLOWING WEEK. ALBRECHT

Taking a look at tonights run of the 00z GFS....looks like we have decent chances of rain starting late tomorrow through the 3rd. May have a break on the 5th, befor ehaving more showers later on that same day. A small chance of showers exists through the 7th. 8th - 15th... looks like a large ridge of high pressure may be back in the picture once again. During this long range time frame....850MB temps are +6 to around +9C with heights 1530 to near 1600M. And 500MB vorticity heights appear to be in the 570DM range with them peaking at 576DM for 10th through the evening of the 13th. So will going with high temps in the mid 70`s for now.

Back up to 60 degrees here. I would say that is a warm evening!! I am not really concerned about frost tonight.
I have loved this spring and almost summer weather but I recognize that we are in big trouble if it does not get active here.
By active I do not mean lowland snow or cold. I mean good ol' Washington rain. And hopefully tons of mountain snow.
I think Brennan and Snow_Wizzard are a little short-sighted hoping for worthless frosty nights that are the result of clear skies. We need rain. Pure and simple.

TT...I agree about no frost tonight. The timing of this thing has moved up so much that clouds and mixing have eliminated that potential. I agree, bring on the rain. Once we get some rain under our belts, there could still be time for a late season cold spell. Nobody can say it's not possible in this whacked out year.
I still strongly disagree about calling a cooler than normal February summer. Whatever....
A total of 19 lows of 32 or below this month, and some of them were caused by cold air masses. We did get some Canadian fronts in here earlier this month. I have the maps to prove it...not Arctic, but cold.
Even Sea - Tac got 12 lows of 32 or below, and that is a POOR location for "fake" cold nights. Climatologists keep track of lows of 32 or below, so they are important. I would say growing a garden could be difficult when every night is freezing regardless fo the daytime temps....Hard to call it summer. By the way I noticed that North Bend even manged to go below freezing last night...according to the Schoolnet. I'll say, I could only hope to see lows like this in the summer! It would warn of one wicked winter on the way.

Again... I am just going by my daytime experiences.
Eating ice cream in the park with my parents and my kids this afternoon all wearing shorts and t-shirts and still almost hot... that is a GOOD summer day.
We dipped to 35 degrees while we were sleeping last night but it was almost 60 degrees when we got up at 8 a.m. so it was truly summer today during the hours that we were awake.
We cannot accurately categorize this weather pattern because we had 30 and 40 degree swings in one day. The perception that most people have is that it has been warm, sunny, and dry. Nobody I have talked to (except you and Brennan) has called this winter-like weather.
Anyways... its over now. Back to somewhat normal weather... but still likely to be warm for the next two weeks.

Last night some friends and I were out trying to shoot some hoops at about 8 oclock at night... It was impossible though because the paddio was frozen over and we were slipping all over the place... It's funny how that doesn't happen in the summer....
A few nights ago I was out in the park at about 11 PM and we were just strolling through under an almost full moon... There was a couple sitting on a bench sipping hot chocolate wearing ski jackets... She was wearing a scarf and gloves and he was wearing a beenie hat and gloves... from a distance it looked like they were smoking 5 cigarettes at a time because you could see their breath so well... I am trying to remember seeing something like that in the middle of july... Now I am trying to remember something like that in the middle of April... Hmmmm... All times in between, I can't think of any... Must not be summer, must not be spring either....
