Good post Perry!
When the Chicks first came out, I liked their stuff. They were fresh, sounded good, and looked good too. But when I first heard about the Chicks' comment, I was upset. I was disappointed in them as well as surprised by it. They are country music stars and the majority of country singers and fans are Reublican, pro-action, pro-Bush southerners. What the Chicks did went against all of that and I think that's why there was so much backlash. The fact that she said it in London and not the US didn't help either. But...
I forgave the Chicks long ago. Yeah, they made a harsh comment in the heat of the moment. I guarantee you that all of you have done the exact same thing at least once in your life! Maybe you were sorry for it, maybe you weren't. Everybody makes mistakes.
I watched last night's interview with Diane Sawyer and what really hit me was their support for our troops. THAT is what matters right now. You don't have to support the president. You don't even have to like him, but the least anyone could do is support the people who were ordered to go there and fight.
Oh, and at the end of the report, Diane said that Bruce Springstein stood behind the Dixie Chicks. I wonder if the same peopole bashing the Chicks will boycott him, too. I think not...
