For whatever that's worth. The blob does appear to be moving farther west into the GOM, rather than toward the Florida Peninsula as forecast by the NHC:

dixie Floater #1 has been in that same position for the past 4 months or so since early January.

But the important thing is that this is not going to do anything tropical as there is shear of 30kts there and waters still are not warm enough.If you see this same convection by wednesday or thursday then you may want to take a second look.

Hey there, cyclone, no I don't expect much to happen, but I heard the wind shear is supposed to decrease -- so we'll see. It's very early, but stranger things have happened in the tropics :)

It appeared earlier today to be drifting S to me.Now if it did hang around and kept going S and S of Cuba SST's are in the 80's.These are if's though see what is happening Wed. if anything.

The area is part of a mid latitude trough and will not develop, area is drifting SSE towards Cuba.

Like Cycloneye said, if its still there in a couple days we might have something. It is moving into warmer water and possibly a less sheared environment. Stranger things have happened. Its really impressive as for as its blobiness.LOL> I've learned that no matter how much you know, its best to not say the word never.

The shear is very strong now. It may not be anything by the time the shear lets up.

The energy is already leaving the area. Like I said, there won't be much left by the time the shear lets up:

IN THE UPPER LEVELS...UPPER ENERGY IS LEAVING THE
AREA TO THE NE WITH MOSTLY ZONAL FLOW LEFT BEHIND...WHICH SHOULD CAUSE A STEADY WEAKENING OF THE TSTM CLUSTER IN THE SE GULF

Goodguy, I started this thing because its about time we comment on a blob. Whether it be something to develop or not. I learn a lot more from what doesn't develop to be honest than I do from what does. It was May 1st and we needed something to commemorate the occassion. :D :D

Yes Kevin, don't listen to goodguy. He has accused me of -removed- but the entire board rejected his comments. I'd rather discuss something because frankly I'm bored with mid-lattitude systems right now. lol.

Blob, blob go away. Come again another day. The weather has been absolutely beautiful and on the cool side - not ready yet for a blob, but interesting nonetheless. :layout:
