This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

DO WE HAVE LIFT-OFF?

#1 Postby dixiebreeze » Fri May 13, 2005 7:52 am

Shear is evident, but this looks like more than a blob this morning in the Caribbean:

That's what I think. Wouldn't be too surprised to see an Invest issued today or tonight if this keeps up.

But I think mr. shear is going to hammer it. Could bring a lot of rain.

I really hate shear. I hope not to hear about it again this hurricane season.

Blob is going to head northeastward over the next few days.

Not enough time on visible to get a clear indication of any levels of circulation if they exist. Definitely a very healthy "BLOB". Shear is the killer here and is quite evident and if the system moves NNE as predicted by models the shear just gets worse so there is little chance of development imo. Some areas will definitely get lots of rain if it holds together, developing or not.

It now looks like the western side of this system is collapsing. Still difficult to tell if there is a circulation. If there is it is at mid levels and this collapse will definitely interrupt it.

Yes, it looks to be disintegrating a little bit now. Still interesting.

I see some spin that started this morning...good convection...still too much shear though. If it weren't for that we would have Arlene soon.

If there have been 7 threads started for this mid-May blob there is going to be utter chaos here when we have a mid September monster on our hands.

That is what we are trying to control. The repetition of threads about a same theme. And also that is why we created new forum for the experts to post their anaylisis there because that will get lost down the pages when as you said things turn very active.

I don't really recall that happening much when the season is very busy. And, on the other hand, part of the reason for coming to S2K is to post and be enthusiastic about the tropics. If only a few can post, then not many will visit the forum, I'm afraid.
