strong hurricanes want to gravitate towards the poles because the purpose of a hurricane is to transport latent heat from the tropics to the poles.

maybe be a wobble but more of the wobbles are going NNW the past several hours....

I think the problem people are having is they they are used to a recurve, IE once the storm trends NNW -> N -> NNE it doesnt go back. If you extrapolate the motion now, it will hit the panhandle. What people probably need to realize is that this storm has a higher probability to trend back westward... so untill a definite pattern emerges, wobbles to the north and west are just that.... but they will affect the eventual landfall site none-the-less.

Id be willing to bet that Dennis takes a westerly or wnw jog before landfall, and another north jog....strong hurricanes dont move in straight lines.

If you know then why did you ask?

Usually weaker storms are more influenced by the poles from what I understand. Maybe I'm backwards though.

I've lingered around since last year and learned alot, but I have no idea what a trochoid wobble is.
