156 mph is the offical number for a cat5.

Well... that's only if NHC decides to round up. As it stands, it's still only 155 mph or cat 4. Also, that's is if NHC decides that is an accurate reading. The pressure is still awfully high. They may only go 150.

I agree, the pressure is... Surprisingly high. Unfortunately, the NHC likes to round their number DOWN. [Bummer.] Honestly, I wish they would, at least, not use increments of 5's [150, 155, 160 mph, etc] when it could make the difference between a storm being a T.S. or any of the 5 categories.

Yes, but technically that rounds down to 155, which is cat 4.

The text books say 156 mph is a cat5...I think they should. A very weak one at that.

Actually, the text books don't say just 156 mph winds. Pressure and storm surge are also big factors... technically speaking.

What does this have to do with anything, much less intensity? Have you taken a good look at Andrew recently?

I meant that it was a small system so the pressure would be higher than normal..
