Well, according to this map, the are about 10-12 miles from sea-side...
So Cozumel is 24 miles wide across? I would have never guessed.

Sorry if I caused a debate, but I guess I was a little exaggerating (after all, who would want to build a hotel 10 miles away from shore?). What I meant was I hope that the people are hunkered down in a concrete building safe from storm surge, which theoritically could mean a building 10-12 mi away from shore.

i agree, now. when i posted and extrapolating the previous few hours it looked as if the eyewall would just miss south...now that looks more unlikely.....hopefully she doesnt go through any rapid restrengthening.
