No big deal Linda....we were already at the ADC and lost power about 4:30 that afternoon which was way early because a tornado hit the WLOX office on Market Street in Pascagoula and knocked out the power. We had generators and 1 TV and I remember him so clearly.......and rtd2 and ixolib your right...he did make the call after it passed Horn Island...a little late in the ball game...but...oh well...
We had boarded up and taken care of things....but the estimated 6-8 foot storm surge was not the actually 14 foot..I think it was that we got....hence the flooding. And yes, I know, I choose to live here and take the chance and I know no one knows where a hurricane is going to go ashore until it actually does..i.e. Elena...and we all on the MS Coast know about her.

My cousin and her family chose to stay too. They said the water from Georges came in sideways. They had to move everything to their second floor (they live right down from you).
I remember when the tornado hit WLOX on Market. My Dad and I saw one in the vicinity of Ingalls and 14th. I drove there after the storm and saw the damage to the auto repair shop on the corner, the restaurant, the convenience store and the carpet place.
