I now have the vacation confirmed. I will be in Orlando from the morning of the 14th until the morning of the 17th. Ill be staying 3 nights at the Portofino Resort. My dad struck some awesome deals including free reusable express passes and free food/non alcoholic drinks at the resort all day and a free continental breakfast. Since I will be there much longer than normal, I will be taking a lot more pictures than normal and doing some things that I havent done at Universal before.

I watched your script. Sounds like a blast! Are you really going to eat at Emerils? I'm jealous! :P

Hope you all have fun!

I might. We'll decide that when we're hungry. They have Emerils, Nascar Cafe, Bubba Gump Shrimp ( a favorite), NBA, Hard Rock Cafe, Bob Marley's, Margaritaville, and tons of little ones. With the free food at the hotel, we may not chose any of the above.

I love the Hard Rock Cafe. Never been to Emeril's, though it looks awesome.

that sounds like a dream holiday, I know you will have a grand ole time. Plus by leaving on the morning of the 14th, you won't miss the first episode of Big Brother , which of course as everyone and their dog knows is Sun July 13. :D

im so jealous of that hotel, i stayed in a Howard Johnson Inn when I went to Niagara early this month, and yes we had a free continental breakfast every morning for the 2 mornings we were there, but that was about it haha
so for your sakes, i hope the 14th to the 17th of July drags on and on, if i can slow down the time for those days, i will cast a spell, being the wizard that I am. haha seriously, enjoy it! You guys deserve it !

One of the few rides I havent been on in Doctor Doom. I was reading to see how it was and nearly croaked. All of this is from universalorlando.com .

---The initial launch at the beginning of the ride uses more thrust than a 747 jet engine and accelerates faster than the space shuttle.

---Doctor Doom's Fearfall has two towers that each stand 200 feet tall.

---Taking Fear to New Heights! All hail Doctor Doom! Prepare to submit to his latest evil experiment — a diabolical device created to extract every ounce of fear from your body by rocketing you 150 feet into the air, then hurling you back down faster than gravity itself!

---It also has a height requirement just 2" shorter than the parks worst coasters: the Hulk, and Dueling Dragons!!!

I have quite a funny story to share. Last night I went for quite a long walk with flip flops, which is usually ok. Last night however, my second toe on my left foot got pretty scraped by the toe holder (lol, is there a better name for it). Anyway two or three layers of skin got taken off a third of the way around my toe. I was trying to put gauze on it on the couch earlier today. I took my new glasses (story for later) off and went to put them on the table. I made it half way, and in the split second I moved my hand to push them back, they fell. My cat was under the table, and somehow he kicked them (I suppose) and they came flying back and hit me square in my forehead as I rolled over to pick them up. After a quick shock of what I happened I could quit laughing. After I laughed I finally got the gauze and triple antibiotic on, and then laughed some more.

300 hours (+/- 5 hours) until I am riding a spinning couch, flying into the mouth of a flaming mummy, and blasting bugs with lazers!

Heres to praying there wont be a tropical influence from the 10th of July to the 17th!

In preparation for my trip to universal, Ive decided to create a top 20 list for Universal/islands of Adventure attractions.

#20 Cat In The Hat (fun for the children, boring for adults)
#19 Terminator 2 3D (preshow is too long, story line is iffy, old attraction)
#18 Poseidons Fury (only good part is the vortex, no rewalkability factor)
#17 Nuthouse Coaster (havent been on it yet, but it is a coaster, but it is a kids attraction)
#16 ET (Great fun, a little slow, great for kids)
#15 Jimmy Neutron (great story line, fun attraction)
#14 Shrek 4D (Good attraction, needs an update, great technology, fun for everyone)
#13 Dudley Do-Right Ripsaw Falls (awesome attraction, great fall)
#12 Twister: Ride it out (great attraction, good Special effects, very real, **weather related**)
#11 Jaws (always a good time, awesome attraction)

#10 Men In Black: Alien Attack (Interactive fun, great attraction, great rerideability)
#9 Popeye and Bluto's Bilge Rat Barges (Very wet!! Great fun, amazing attraction)
#8 Disaster (great interactive fun, a little slower than Earthquake-its predecessor, always fun, great technology
#7 Jurassic Park River Adventure (very wet, very real, very fun, great thrill
#6 (Tied) Dueling Dragons Fire (hard to get ready for, great thrill, a little too fast)
#6 (Tied) Doctor Doom (amazing adrenaline, great thrill, scary! short)

#5 The Simpsons Ride (new! great fun, involves a roller coaster or two, but doesnt scare the coaster fearsome, great laughs, great queue, numerous spoofs on other parks, many rides in one)

http://youtube.com/watch?v=zfbISdahfzI

The top four will be announced in the coming days!

#4 Dueling Dragons: Ice (Fast, curvy, thrilling, sort of hard to get used to, fun, amazing ride, the better of the two dragons, adrenaline pumper [it nearly hits Fire 3 times])
**my next ride may be my last on 'Dueling Dragons' as it is soon to be rethemed, repainted, and possibly renamed**

http://youtube.com/watch?v=hjwl9hwe7_M
(sorry for the wind)

Some Stats:
--Ice Dragon reaches a top speed of 61mph
--Ice brings rider's feet within 12" of the riders of Fire
--Ice has 5 inversions, including a zero-g roll, cobra roll, vertical loop, and corkscrew.
--Ice Dragon has 95 foot drop as opposed to a 105 foot drop on Fire
--Computers weigh each train to insure that they will meet at precisely the right times on each of the three near-misses.
--The supports are filled with gravel to minimize noise because of a nearby High School!

I watched the youtube video of the Simpsons ride and I have seen a segment they did on the news about the ride. Is it a coaster? I can't tell.

I watched the Ice Dragon video too. I have to say it almost made me dizzy. LOL

The simpsons ride is a simulator. Basically you sit in a car, it rises a few feet and rocks back and forth, left and right a few feet (if that) and makes you feel like you are on a ride. It has two separate coaster parts, and it makes you feel like you are on a coaster. It also has a simulated sideways roll that makes the passengers feel like there are upside down, but really ride side up. When I was on it it was still on trial runs, and I expect it to be more real this time around.

I watched the Ice Dragon video too. I have to say it almost made me dizzy. LOL

Both Dueling Dragons are a little hard to get used to. It is a 2.5 minute ride and it takes about a minute to get used to it.

#3 The Hulk (very fast, fast incline [I hate slow inclines], very long coaster, frightening, easy to get used to, fun, not for the coaster scared, great ride, long line, celebrity endorsed [Ellen is just one], incredible for those who can ride it, incredible thrill, very loud, seen and heard from all over the park, all around incredible)

http://youtube.com/watch?v=KlMeWfc2k4w

Some Stats:

--The launch tube is 150'
--Acceleration is 0 to 40 mph in 2 seconds, approximately the same thrust as an F-16 fighter jet
--You blast through a misty tube
--top speed is nearly 70mph
--The ride features 7 inversions including 1 weightless roll, 1 cobra roll, 1 360° degree carousel, 1 inclined loop, 1 high speed carousel, and 2 loops
--The launch is powered by a 2 megawatt generator. If the attraction were to be powered off of Orlando’s power grid, a single launch would black out the city
--The height of the coaster is 110-feet, and the drop height is 105-feet.
--The ride produces 4g’s

#2 Mummy: The Ride (very fast, fast incline, long, very scary in an adventuresome sense, fun, great ride, thrilling, great theme, great queue, great special effects, love going backwards!)

Facts:
--The vehicles move at a maximum speed of 40 miles per hour (but it feels much faster)
-- In the first scene of the attraction, located to the left hand side of the sacrificial table, a corpse can be seen wearing a hat that --says "Kong Rules!" as a tribute to Kongfrontation, the predecessor of The Mummy.
-- The attraction features a 25 foot, 50 degree drop
--The launch track is 45 feet long, the ride vehicle is able to clear this section within 1.5 seconds.
--The attraction claims to immerse guests into the world of six common human fears; Lysgophobia, Entomophobia, Tachophobia, Acrophobia, Demonophobia, and Necrophobia. These are the fear of the dark, fear of insects, fear of speed, fear of heights, fear of evil spirits, and fear of death.
--Another phobia encased in this ride is the fear of the number 13, as there are 13 vehicles.
--During the removal "Kongfrontation," it was found that pieces of the ride track had to remain in tact, or the building would eventually collapse. Therefore, sections of Kong's tram track still exist in the building.

#1 Spiderman: (fun for everyone, its in 3D, great special effects, thrilling, scary, great theme, fun queue)

Facts:
--When the attraction opened, it was the most expensive ride ever built.
--The attraction simulates a drop of 400 feet.
--After September 11th, the original queue line video (shown in the Bugle office segment of the queue) was removed. The video showed scenes of mayhem through the streets of New York - one segment in the video included a news helicopter crashing into a well-known New York skyscraper. The video has still yet to return.
--Throughout the attraction, the Marvel hero Iron Man can be seen on billboards in the city skyline.

Facts all credited to IOA Central and Universal Studios!
